A man killed himself after fatally shooting his 5-year-old daughter

In December, a man and his 5-year-old daughter were found dead after a 10-hour standoff with police in Long Beach, California. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced on Friday that they believe the man killed himself in his home after fatally shooting his daughter. The incident began when officers responded to a domestic dispute call at the man's residence. The suspect, identified as Chase Phillip Powell, was surrounded by police officers, but it is unclear if he was aware of their presence. The LBPD stated that they were unable to make contact with the suspect before he took his own life. The girl, identified as Aspen Powell, died from a gunshot wound to the head.
